Wildfire smoke causes hazy, brown sky over Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — The murky haze hanging over the Las Vegas valley is drifting in from a Southern California hearth in a nationwide forest.

The Gifford Fireplace has blackened greater than 65,000 acres within the Los Padres Nationwide Forest in Santa Barbara County. It began on Friday, inflicting some smoke and haze to reach within the valley over the weekend.

Winds from the west helped push and thicken the smoke and haze by Monday morning, dropping visibility and leaving a powerful odor of smoke. The hearth is simply 3 p.c contained.

The blanket of haze is predicted to stay over the valley by way of Tuesday after which loosen up because the week continues.
