LAS VEGAS ( KLAS ) – After the most recent deadly wrong-way freeway crash in Southern Nevada, one other viewer has had sufficient.

Lynn writes:

“How many innocent people need to die before something is done to stop this? The cost should not be an issue. I still think spikes should be installed at all off-ramps. Maybe if we skip metal sculptures and redirect that money to putting in the strips? Our drunk driving laws aren’t effective on surface streets, but can’t we at least stop drunks from getting on freeways going the wrong direction?”

Lynn, thanks for writing. Should you’re speaking about spike strips, then you definately’re in all probability not alone. 8NewsNow reporter Ryan Tisminezky talked about that topic again in October:

“Many people have asked NDOT why they don’t install them on ramps? They don’t function effectively above 5mph, and could stop emergency vehicles.”

The Nevada Dept of Transportation has plans to greater than double the 4 wrong-way driver alert techniques which are already in place within the far northwest valley. We’ll maintain you posted.

Buckle up, drive rigorously – and, please put down that telephone!
