'Unclear' how mysterious monolith ended up outdoors Las Vegas, police say months later

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Greater than six months after a mysterious monolith popped up within the mountains north of Las Vegas, police are nonetheless uncertain who put it there.

Las Vegas Metro police made the assertion as a part of a retrospective of massive tales in 2024.

The shiny object was found in mid-July close to Gass Peak simply north of the Las Vegas valley. Its discovery was a callback to November 2020 when monoliths had been showing internationally.

Police eliminated the reflective merchandise, which was 77 inches tall and secured with rebar and concrete, over security issues, they mentioned over the summer time.

“It remains unclear how it ended up at the location or who was responsible,” police mentioned Thursday.

The division cited “public safety and environmental concerns” as causes for its removing shortly after its discovery.
