Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) on Monday mentioned President Trump deserves the Nobel Peace Prize for his takeover of the Washington, D.C., police pressure after preliminary information confirmed a scarcity of reported killings within the metropolis over 11 days.

“There are MANY reasons why President Trump deserves the Nobel Peace Prize – but 11 straight days with ZERO murders in Washington, D.C. might top the list,” Johnson mentioned Monday in a social media publish. “SAFER streets. STRONGER communities. AMERICA IS BACK!”

Johnson was responding to a publish from the White Home’s communications workforce highlighting no incidents of homicides reported from Aug. 14-24.

These statistics come from preliminary information printed by the D.C. Metropolitan Police Division. There have been two killings reported since Trump took management of the town’s police division on Aug. 11 — one on Aug. 11 and one on Aug. 13.

This isn’t the longest stretch that the town has gone and not using a killing this 12 months, although. There have been no murders in the course of the 16-day interval from Feb. 25 to March 12, as CNN first reported.

The info will not be closing, and extra crimes will be added to the database over that interval sooner or later. There have been 101 homicides reported within the database to this point this 12 months, in comparison with 118 over the identical interval final 12 months.

Trump has repeatedly acknowledged his need to win the Nobel Peace Prize — an award former President Obama was bestowed.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is amongst those that says he has nominated Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize.
