Smith's Meals & Drug warehouse staff vote to authorize strike in Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Greater than 140 warehouse staff at Smith’s Meals and Drug have voted to authorize a strike in Las Vegas.

Smith’s is owned by Kroger, which has practically 2,800 shops in 35 states throughout the U.S., based on its web site.

The vote comes after months of what warehouse staff name “management’s unfair labor practices and refusal to bargain seriously.”

Earlier this 12 months, staff voted to hitch Native 14 to safe higher wages, job safety, safer working circumstances, and assured retirement advantages. 

“All we want is a fair contract that brings us in line with the wages and benefits other Teamsters at Kroger already have nationwide,” mentioned Juan Castillo, a Kroger/Smith’s warehouse employee and Native 14 member.

No data was launched on when a strike might happen.
