LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Extra data surfaced on Thursday concerning the state’s utility monopoly, NV Power, overcharging clients.

The corporate overcharged tens of hundreds of Nevadans by $65.5 million over the past twenty years, in line with feedback filed with the Public Utility Fee of Nevada (PUCN) by NV Power.

PUCN claims NV Power overcharged hundreds of shoppers over $17M

In Could, the PUCN mentioned it could launch an investigation into what it calls a number of “residential rate misclassifications” by NV Power, in line with paperwork filed with the state.

PUCN investigators found that NV Power was overcharging tens of hundreds of shoppers since as early as 2001, paperwork mentioned.

Between April 1, 2017, and April 1, 2024, roughly 60,000 clients might have been overcharged over $17 million, in line with paperwork.

Initially, NV Power mentioned it couldn’t observe overcharges between 2002 and 2017; nevertheless, following the most recent feedback filed on Thursday, the corporate might have overcharged Nevadans an extra $27.4 million.

8 Information Now reached out to NV Power following the most recent feedback filed with the PUCN.

NV Power offered the next assertion:

“NV Energy submitted comments in response to the Public Utilities Commission of Nevada’ s request to provide estimated calculations relating to misclassification of multi-family premises between 2002 and 2017. The filing also includes prior calculations for 2017 through 2025. NV Energy is committed to working with the Public Utilities Commission of Nevada through a transparent process that ensures a fair and balanced outcome, pursuant to Nevada law, for impacted customers.” – NV Power Spokesperson
