New specialty fireplace vehicles revealed at Harry Reid Worldwide Airport

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Clark County Firefighters at Harry Reid Worldwide Airport have two new vehicles to assist with emergency responses.

The Plane Rescue and Hearth Combating (ARFF) vehicles characteristic distinctive tools to pierce into planes, extinguishing foam, and two engines to permit for blasting water whereas driving.

Clark County Hearth Division Assistant Chief Scott Carnahan stated they are going to be an enchancment to the division, with the vehicles changing 12-year-old ARFFs.

“Our job is to make sure that the passengers have time to get off the aircraft,” Carnahan stated. “The flight crew has 90 seconds to evacuate an aircraft, and for everybody that can’t go out, our job is to make sure that we can knock down the fire and go in and get those people that need to be rescued.”

The vehicles additionally make responses safer for firefighters, because the extinguishing foam they use not incorporates endlessly chemical substances generally known as PFAS. Democratic Senator Jacky Rosen, who performed an element in securing funding for the brand new vehicles, is pleased with that side.

“We want our airport to stay the safest, and we also want our firefighters right here to have the best equipment, best response. It’s an investment in their safety, and in the public’s safety,” Rosen stated.
