New cops sworn in for North Las Vegas, Henderson, CCSD

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Law enforcement officials obtained their badges throughout the Las Vegas valley on Thursday.

Henderson’s police drive welcomed 22 officers, the Clark County College District swore in 5, and North Las Vegas 18.

On the North Las Vegas CSN campus, officers with the North Las Vegas and CCSD police departments sat earlier than family and friends throughout their badge ceremony.

“You see 23 new officers seated here today,” Captain Paul Manteufel with NLVPD mentioned. “Those seats were earned, and not given.”

These seats had been earned by way of a grueling 24-week coaching course of, together with self-defense, capturing, driving, getting tazed, and pepper-sprayed. The officers mentioned it is value it to work in North Las Vegas, and mentioned the division is like household.

“I’m coming from the Coast Guard, we’re the smallest branch of the military, so that family atmosphere is what I look for and I love, and everyone here in North Las Vegas is family from the top down,” new officer Nathan Sordillo mentioned.

Officers are additionally becoming a member of North Las Vegas for households of their very own.

“I have two younger children,” new officer Anthony Smith mentioned. “My oldest she attends school in North Las Vegas, so I want it to be a positive community, so I figured, what would be a better way than be a leader in this field.”
