Theron Hulan Goynes was born on Aug. 20, 1929, making him 95 years outdated. A trailblazer all through his outstanding life, Goynes was steadfast in his pursuit of progress and fairness.
On Sept. 16, 1981, he made historical past as Nevada’s first African American elected consultant to steer a authorities physique, presiding over a Metropolis Council assembly within the mayor’s absence. His visionary management and tireless dedication to North Las Vegas earned him the “Public Official of the Year” award from the Nevada League of Cities in 1992.
Goynes devoted 20 years of service to the North Las Vegas Metropolis Council.
