Met singers' union will get 5% improve partly funded by $5M appropriation from New York state

NEW YORK (AP) — The Metropolitan Opera and the union for its soloists and refrain introduced a one-year settlement Friday on a contract.

The settlement requires a 2.5% wage improve plus a further momentary 2.5% hike that adopted the labor group’s help in securing a $5 million appropriation in New York state’s funds.

The deal between the Met and the American Guild of Musical Artists begins Aug. 1 and runs by July 31, 2026. It should be ratified by the union. AGMA additionally represents dancers, full-time actors, stage managers, stage administrators and choreographers.

The Met stated AGMA helped foyer the state authorities for the appropriation, and the extra 2.5% rise will sundown when the deal expires.

Two different main Met union offers expire July 31, with Native 802 of the American Federation of Musicians, which represents the orchestra, and Native One of many Worldwide Alliance of Theatrical Stage Workers, which represents stagehands.
