Convicted would-be Trump murderer tried to stab himself with pen after verdict

The person convicted of trying to assassinate President Trump whereas he golfed final 12 months in South Florida tried to stab himself with a pen after a federal jury handed down the responsible verdict Tuesday afternoon.

Ryan Routh was convicted on all 5 counts he confronted after jurors deliberated for 2 hours. The cost of tried assassination of a significant presidential candidate carries a most sentence of life imprisonment.

After the decision was introduced and jurors began leaving the courtroom, Routh grabbed a pen and tried to stab himself within the neck with it, prompting U.S. Marshals to intervene, based on The Hill’s sister community NewsNation.

They dragged him out of the courtroom, as his daughter, Sara Routh, screamed. 

“Dad, I love you, don’t do anything,” she stated, based on The Related Press. “I’ll get you out. He didn’t damage anyone.” 

On Monday, Sara Routh advised NewsNation she thought the trial was “rigged.”
