Celebrating Nationwide Aviation Week at Nellis Air Drive Base

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — In honor of Nationwide Aviation Week, 8 Information Now reporter JC Fernandez was reside Wednesday morning from Freedom Park inside Nellis AFB with Dan Wheaton, historian for the 57th Wing.

He additionally shared the story of Nellis Air Drive Base itself, which first opened in 1941 because the Las Vegas Military Airfield. It was later renamed to honor 1st Lieutenant William Harrell Nellis, a Las Vegas native and World Conflict II fighter pilot who misplaced his life in fight in 1944.
