LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Aspiring ballet dancers at The Rock Middle for Dance in Las Vegas hope to bop to the highest at this 12 months’s Youth America Grand Prix (YAGP) ballet scholarship.
“It’s one of the largest international ballet competitions offering hundreds of scholarships to aspiring young artists and dancers,” Ballet teacher Jim Nowakowski stated. “These beautiful dancers here at The Rock will be given the opportunity to compete at the preliminaries this weekend.”
AGP is the biggest world community of dance and the world’s largest ballet scholarship competitors. The gifted ballerinas at The Rock Middle for Dance might be competing for an opportunity to bop professionally for the American Ballet Theatre, Paris Opera Ballet, Dutch Nationwide Ballet, New York Metropolis Ballet, and different prestigious corporations and colleges.
“It means so much,” Nowakowski added. “It could give them an opportunity to help boost their career. It could give them an opportunity to go to a summer intensive or summer program. The end goal is to be a professional ballet dancer, and you have directors all around the world that will be there, so it gets their foot in the door.”
Most of the dancers began performing on the age of two. The budding ballerinas work and prepare as much as 25 hours every week, practically seven days every week to organize for this degree of competitors, specializing in each method and athleisure.
The co-ed ballet dancers might be competing in ballet and modern solo and group routines at this 12 months’s competitors with hopes of going professional on the road.
Auditions will happen on the Nicholas J. Horn Theatre starting Thursday, Jan. 23 and can run by way of Sunday, Jan. 26. The occasion is open to the general public.
