LAS VEGAS ( KLAS ) – A viewer needs to know why some freeway ramp meter indicators aren’t working.
John writes:
“I drive home from work every evening around 5:30 going south on the 95, and there’s usually a ton of rush hour traffic. I’ve noticed that the on-ramp meters during one of the busiest parts of the day aren’t running. Can you figure out why?”
John, I checked with Nevada Dept of Transportation spokeswoman Kelsey McFarland. Here is what she says:
“NDOT recently replaced ramp meter equipment statewide. During testing of the new equipment, we identified a few system compatibility issues that required additional software adjustments.”
She provides:
“We’ll be activating meters in phases with the full rollout expected to take a couple of months. Thank you for your patience as we complete this process.”
John, thanks for writing – and tell us if these ramp meters do not come again on
Buckle up, drive fastidiously – and, please put down that cellphone!
