UNLV receives greater than $1M grant to assist college students pursuing training levels

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — The College of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) was awarded greater than $1 million to launch an initiative aimed toward supporting under-resourced college students who’re pursuing careers in training.

The TRIO Trainer Preparation Scholar Assist Service mission can be held in UNLV’s Dr. William W. Sullivan Middle for Tutorial Enrichment and Outreach, and can be funded 100% by a $1,361,820 grant offered by the U.S. Division of Training.

“We are thrilled to receive this funding and to expand our support for students preparing tobecome the next generation of educators,” Zhanna Aronov, UNLV Affiliate Vice Presidentfor Retention and Outreach, stated. “This initiative reflects UNLV’s and the funding agency’scommitment to access and excellence in teacher preparation.”

Beginning in 2025 and persevering with by means of 2030, the mission will yearly serve 140 UNLV undergraduates who’re low-income, first-generation-college, and/or disabled people who’re majoring or strongly contemplating majoring in early, major, or secondary training.

It would assist college students stay in good tutorial standing, persist on the establishment, and full a baccalaureate diploma.

The mission will present eligible college students with a listing of companies, together with:

Tutorial advising and tutoring;

Monetary help and monetary literacy counseling;

Profession and graduate/skilled faculty steering;

Ongoing tutorial progress monitoring; and

Grant help

The Dr. William W. Sullivan Middle for Tutorial Enrichment and Outreach’s mission is to “provide traditional and innovative educational opportunities to a diverse community through targeted service and research that promote personal success.”
