LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — UNLV’s Faculty of Schooling held a groundbreaking ceremony on Monday for a brand new venture to broaden its on-campus preschool.
The venture is part of the college’s dedication to satisfy the childcare and academic wants of households all through Southern Nevada.
“What this allows us to do is help the next generation become kindergarten-ready,” Dean of the Faculty of Schooling Danica Hays stated.
The enlargement venture is anticipated to double the preschool’s capability, opening ten extra school rooms and permitting a minimum of 120 extra college students to enroll.
“Because of the incredible quality that’s actually offered through the Lynn Bennett [Early Childhood Education] Center, we needed to be able to expand that to offer more opportunities to more kids and to get more off of the waitlist,” UNLV President Keith Whitfield stated.
Part 1 of the enlargement will add a brand new 6,900-square-foot constructing to the Lynn Bennett Early Childhood Schooling Heart.
“We’re going to be able to double the number of kids that we’re able to serve,” Whitfield added.
The brand new area will characteristic extra school rooms, a mother or father useful resource heart, a household lounge, and a convention room.
“They’ll have additional play space. We will also have a new multipurpose room for community events,” Director of UNLV/CSUN Preschool Claire Tredwell stated.
The enlargement venture will characteristic instructional alternatives each for younger pupils and future educators.
“Not only does the physical blueprint allow us to double our training space, but it provides more and more teachers to go into Clark County and other school districts statewide,” Hays stated. “We will be able to provide training opportunities for more than 100 students that are going to school to be early childhood education, as well as those that are studying to be in nutrition and special education.”

“Continue spreading the message of how valuable early childhood education is, how valuable it is to have funding to support kids at these very critical stages of their development, and how valuable it is for us to continue expanding the workforce,” Hays stated.
Part 1 of the preschool enlargement venture is anticipated to be full subsequent summer time.
