Tons of of bookstore staffers obtain vacation bonuses from creator James Patterson

NEW YORK (AP) — Staffers at Thank You Books in Birmingham, Alabama, San Francisco’s Metropolis Lights Books and The Nook in Cedar Falls, Iowa, are amongst 600 booksellers receiving $500 vacation bonuses from James Patterson, t he bestselling novelist who has been awarding impartial retailer workers since 2015.

“Booksellers save lives. Period,” Patterson said in a statement released Tuesday through his publisher, Little, Brown and Company. “I’m happy to be able to acknowledge them and all their hard work this holiday season.”

The winners, together with Davis Gustafson at Thank You Books and Erin Messer at Metropolis Lights, have been nominated by co-workers and clients amongst others. Recipients additionally embody Brandon Conrad of the Nook, Gina Marx of The Lynx in Gainesville, Florida, and Kirstin Kraig of Whale’s Story Books in Lakewood, Colorado. Patterson selected the winners from 1000’s of functions.

“We appreciate Mr. Patterson’s financial generosity as well as his generosity of spirit. We all continue to be awed by, and grateful for, Mr. Patterson’s continuing support of independent booksellers,” Allison Hill, CEO of the American Booksellers Affiliation, mentioned in a press release. “It means every little thing to have him acknowledge and reward the dear function booksellers play within the business.”

Alongside along with his presents to booksellers, Patterson has given tens of millions of {dollars} to varsities, libraries and literacy packages. In 2015, the Nationwide E-book Basis introduced him an honorary Nationwide E-book Award — the Literarian Award — for “excellent service to the American literary group.”
