Schumer, Jeffries congratulate Mamdani on NYC upset, cease wanting endorsements

Senate Minority Chief Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) and Home Minority Chief Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) on Wednesday congratulated Zohran Mamdani on his shocking obvious victory in New York Metropolis’s Democratic mayoral major — however stopped wanting endorsing their occasion’s seemingly nominee.

“Congratulations to Zohran Mamdani on a decisive primary victory,” Jeffries wrote in a publish on X. “Assemblyman Mamdani ran a strong campaign that relentlessly focused on the economy and bringing down the high cost of living in New York City.”

Neither Schumer nor Jeffries endorsed within the race. 

Mamdani declared victory early Wednesday morning after popping out of major evening with a commanding lead over former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D), who conceded late Tuesday. Mamdani, a 33-year-old member of the Democratic Socialists of America, was seen because the progressive, outsider within the race. Cuomo was thought-about the institution candidate and was the favourite since he introduced his candidacy in March.
