She and her household have met with Eddie’s household on many events, a bittersweet connection of grief and gratitude between the 2 households. 

“This is Eddie’s heart, and I am the caretaker of his heart,” Mintz mentioned. 

Now, she’s encouraging others to say ‘yes’ to saving and therapeutic lives.

“When you say yes to organ donation and you become an organ donor, you don’t just save the patient. You are saving their family and sometimes your own family,” Mintz added. “Grieving is hard and for your family to know that you will live on and help someone else can be very healing.”
