LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Roseman College of Well being Sciences is laying the groundwork to launch Southern Nevada’s first School of Veterinary Drugs.
On Monday, the college introduced it has submitted a letter of intent to the American Veterinary Medical Affiliation (AVMA) Council on Schooling—a proper first step in creating this system at its Henderson campus.
Dr. Katherine Fogelberg has been appointed founding dean and can lead the early planning course of. A navy veteran and longtime educator, Dr. Fogelberg brings greater than a decade of expertise in veterinary observe and better training.
“Launching a veterinary college requires both a strong vision and deep engagement with the community it will serve,” Dr. Renee Coffman, president and co-founder of Roseman College, stated.
The necessity for extra veterinarians is urgent in Nevada. In line with the U.S. Division of Agriculture, a number of areas throughout the state—particularly rural areas—are going through extreme shortages in veterinary providers, notably in meals animal drugs.
“Our goal is to create a veterinary program that is not only academically rigorous but also deeply mission-driven,” Dr. Fogelberg stated. “We want to train veterinarians who are equipped to serve all communities—urban and rural, pets and livestock, locally and nationally.”
Though an official launch date for the veterinary program hasn’t been set, submitting the letter to the AVMA permits the college to start constructing partnerships with clinics and business leaders statewide.
The proposed veterinary school would be a part of Roseman’s increasing roster of healthcare applications, together with pharmacy, nursing, dentistry, and drugs.
