'Profound loss,' group remembers fallen North Las Vegas Police Officer Jason Roscow

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Household, mates, fellow law enforcement officials, and the general public bid farewell to Officer Jason Roscow Thursday throughout a procession and funeral for the North Las Vegas officer who was killed within the line of obligation.

“He dedicated his time, money and gifts to help children in need,” stated North Las Vegas Police Chief Jacqueline Gravatt. “Jason always answered the call to serve and protect. He embodied what it means to be a police officer.”

Underneath the sprinkling rain, the morning procession was led by a pickup truck carrying Roscow’s flag-draped coffin from the mortuary, throughout the valley to Central Church, together with a drive alongside Las Vegas Boulevard the place the officer was memorialized on marquees.

Roscow, 46, leaves behind sons Graysen, 9, and Andrew, 4, dad and mom, two sisters, a brother, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Roscow grew up in Prairie Du Rocher, Illinois, and was recognized to his mates as “Peco.” At a younger age, he volunteered for the native fireplace division after which enlisted within the U.S. Air Power after his highschool commencement. “We all knew at a young age he wanted to be a policeman. So, he fulfilled his lifelong dream. He lived it. He loved it,” stated Michael Roscow, his brother. “He was at heart a small town guy.”

Roscow, who had been on the police power for 17 years, died on Feb. 4 after answering a name about an armed man with a gun in a neighborhood. Roscow suffered 5 gunshot wounds however was capable of fireplace off one shot killing the suspect.

Sgt. Daryl Reitz stated Roscow’s affect and affect on the division was immeasurable.

“I don’t have enough time to tell you all the stories from the last 18 years,” stated NVLPD Sgt. Daryl Reitz. “He was funny, passionate, anal-retentive, and orderly, caring, loving. He was the class clown.”

There will even be a funeral mass on Monday for Officer Roscow in Prairie Du Rocher, Illinois, the place he was raised.
