LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — An off-duty Metro police officer and his spouse shot and killed a person of their entrance yard Friday morning after they stated they noticed the person strangling a lady.
The incident occurred simply after 9:30 a.m. Friday morning within the 700 block of sixth Avenue in Boulder Metropolis, LVMPD Capt. Kurt McKenzie stated.
LVMPD acquired a name from the Boulder Metropolis Police Division asking for help after an individual was discovered lifeless within the entrance yard of the house.
In keeping with police, the officer and his spouse had been inside their dwelling after they heard a “commotion” within the yard of a neighbor’s home. The officer left his dwelling and noticed a person “mounted” on high of a lady, punching and strangling her. The officer then instructed his spouse to name police, whereas the officer went into the yard to separate the person and lady, McKenzie stated.

The officer was ready get the girl to security. The person then adopted the officer into his entrance yard and the officer gave “numerous” instructions to the person to cease, saying he would shoot if he got here nearer, McKenzie stated.
The person continued to strategy the group and the off-duty officer and his spouse each fired at him, McKenzie stated. Medical personnel later pronounced the person lifeless.
Metro police was investigating for the reason that shooter is an officer of their division.
That is the first officer-involved capturing for Metro in 2025. Following LVMPD coverage, the id of the officer concerned shall be launched after 48 hours.
