Obama takes half in name with Texas Democrats

Former President Obama participated in a name with Texas Home Democrats on Thursday because the lawmakers stay out of the state in protest of Lone Star State Republicans’ push to move friendlier congressional maps.

Former Legal professional Normal Eric Holder, who chairs the Nationwide Democratic Redistricting Committee (NDRC), additionally participated within the name. 

The previous president “lauded their fight against the Republican efforts to enact an even more egregious gerrymander in Texas ahead of the midterms,” the Obama spokesperson stated in an announcement. “He made clear that they are part of a bigger effort to protect free and fair elections and commended them for inspiring others with their actions.” 

The spokesperson famous that he could be headlining an NDRC fundraiser subsequent week. ABC Information was the primary to report on the digital name. 

Texas Home Democratic Caucus Chair Gene Wu thanked Obama for assembly with lawmakers in a put up on X. 

“We are encouraged by your words and remain committed to fighting for democracy, in Texas & across the country. #txlege,” Wu stated. 

Texas Democrats have remained out of the state for near every week as they’ve sought to dam Republicans from passing a brand new Home map that will supply the GOP 5 pick-up alternatives forward of 2026.  

Texas Home Democrats introduced earlier on Thursday that they’d return to the state if two circumstances had been met: That the state legislature adjourned on Friday and California introducing its personal set of maps to neutralize potential good points in Texas.
