LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — On Sunday, dozens of individuals took a swing at saving lives.
The Nevada Donor Community hosted its first Golf Invitational on the Las Vegas Nation Membership, elevating funds and consciousness to increase transplant companies proper right here in Nevada. Multiple hundred golfers teed off for an expertise and a goal.
“It’s more than just a golf tournament; it’s actually an experience and it’s an opportunity for us to raise funds for the foundation in our mission to save and heal lives through organ, tissue, and eye donation,” Gordon Prouty, Basis President of Nevada Donor Community, mentioned.
UMC is the one hospital within the state performing kidney transplants. The hospital can deal with about 150 transplants a 12 months, leaving many nonetheless ready for his or her second likelihood.
“We donate more organs than any other state in the U.S., but more than 90% of those organs leave the state because we don’t have the transplant services in Nevada that we currently need,” Prouty mentioned.

Tyre Grey, Chief Administrative and Authorized Officer for Nevada Donor Community can be a kidney recipient. He says one ‘Yes’ can change dozens of lives by organ, eye, and tissue donation.
“Organ donation and organ transplantation really is a modern miracle. It’s the opportunity to be able to take an unfortunate death and turn it into hope for people,” Grey mentioned. “Every single person that says ‘Yes’ to organ donation has the opportunity to possibly save eight lives and change 75 lives.”
