Rep. Seth Moulton (D-Mass.) slammed Protection Secretary Pete Hegseth, calling him a hazard to the nation and the U.S. army after The Atlantic reported Monday that its editor in chief, Jeffrey Goldberg, had been included on a Sign channel that detailed delicate info relating to U.S. strikes in Yemen towards the Houthis.

“Incompetence so severe that it could have gotten Americans killed. There is no world in which this information should have been shared in non-secure channels,” Moulton, a Marine veteran who served in Iraq, wrote on the social platform X.

“Hegseth is in so far over his head that he is a danger to this country and our men and women in uniform,” he mentioned.

Addressing the Republicans on the Home Armed Companies Committee, Moulton mentioned Hegseth “needs to explain himself to Congress and be held accountable.”

Goldberg reported earlier Monday that nationwide safety adviser Mike Waltz had apparently by accident included him in a small Sign chat with top-level Trump administration officers, together with Vice President Vance, Hegseth and CIA Director John Ratcliffe.

Hegseth’s posts included “operational details of forthcoming strikes on Yemen, including information about targets, weapons the U.S. would be deploying, and attack sequencing,” in response to Goldberg.

Nationwide Safety Council spokesperson Brian Hughes confirmed to Goldberg that the Sign group gave the impression to be genuine and officers had been investigating how he had been included in it. The reporting has appalled Democrats and Republicans alike.
