Las Vegas Rescue saves climbers stranded in Purple Rock on Christmas

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — On Christmas Day the Las Vegas Search and Rescue efficiently rescued two climbers stranded in Pine Creek Canyon at Purple Rock.

The climbers had been navigating the “Olive Oil” route on Christmas Eve when a storm rolled in, leaving them unable to proceed.

Excessive winds initially prevented SAR groups from conducting the rescue, forcing the climbers to spend the night time on the route.

On Christmas morning the climate situations improved, and SAR and AIR1 have been capable of attain the climbers. They have been safely packaged, extracted through hoist, and transported to the helipad on the BLM Fireplace Station.

SAR reported that each climbers have been unhurt.
