Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Division welcomes new class of officers

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — The latest class of Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Division officers graduated at a ceremony Tuesday.

The group of 63, comprised of 53 males and 10 girls, have been surrounded by proud relations and different officers on the Treasure Island ballroom. There, they celebrated reaching a brand new milestone of their profession journey, which started final September.

“It was a long six months,” stated Officer Kathryn Gutierrez, one of many latest members of LVMPD. “We had a lot of fun. We got smoked a lot, which means we had to work out a lot and often, but honestly, we have become such good friends.”

LVMPD stated it was pleased with Class 9-2024’s vary in variety. Previous to turning into law enforcement officials, their skilled experiences ranged from carpentry to phlebotomy. 13 members of the category have prior navy expertise, and 20 are bilingual.

“These local heroes will further LVMPD’s commitment to policing our neighborhoods with humanity,” LVMPD stated.
