LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Clark County Commissioners may approve the second Annual Las Vegas Marathon. If handed, the race may deliver complications for close by residents and companies.
The Las Vegas Marathon may kick off in just some weeks, closing a big part of Sahara from Charleston to Las Vegas Boulevard. For some companies within the race’s path, this might create hurdles.
“My boss was already saying we might have to look at maybe not taking orders for that day because if we can’t even figure out how to get here, how are the customers supposed to get here to pick up their goods?” Terry Zenz, cake decorator at Pastry Palace, stated.
Zenz stated they’re simply getting over months of building. If the marathon occurs, they count on extra setbacks.
“We just had construction on Sahara for months, and it literally added like half an hour to my commute both ways,” Zenz stated. “Small businesses are already struggling a little bit in the current economy, so anytime that there’s a disruption to that, that makes things even more stressful.”
Others stated the affect can be minimal given the day and time of the occasion.
“Sundays are usually everybody’s chill day of relaxation,” Jacob Bambic, who works on the native tobacco store, Rock & Vape, stated
Bambic stated their busiest days are Fridays and Saturdays.
“We have another entrance on Rainbow, and a lot of people come in in the afternoon, so hopefully most of the marathon will be over by then,” Bambic stated. “I think the people that are going to be affected the most are gonna be the people whose only access is on Sahara.”
If accepted, the occasion would happen on Sunday, Oct. 26. Highway closures would start early and reopen step by step all through the day. Entry to companies alongside the Sahara might be obtainable by detour or slip lane.
The race is predicted to finish round 1 p.m.
