Las Vegas honors fallen heroes at Memorial Day occasion

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — The Las Vegas neighborhood gathered Monday to honor the women and men who died serving america.

The twenty third Annual Memorial Day Ceremony passed off on the Lake Sahara South Park within the west Las Vegas Valley. Organized by American Legion Submit 76 and spearheaded by veteran Roger John Henning, the occasion aimed to unite veterans, households, and residents in a tribute to America’s fallen heroes.

“Memorial Day is just not a cheerful day; it’s a day of remembrance,” said Jack Ford, a veteran of World War II. “It’s unhappy remembering all of the individuals which were misplaced through the years to the foolishness of battle.”

The ceremony commenced with the presentation of colours by the Palo Verde Air Drive Junior ROTC Honor Guard, adopted by a flag-folding ceremony. Attendees noticed a second of silence because the names of native service members who misplaced their lives in fight had been learn aloud.

Additionally in attendance had been Gold Star households who’ve misplaced family members within the line of responsibility. They stated the occasion is a private tribute to the legacy of their family members.

“As people have their barbeques and celebrate, I hope that they take the time to remember those who gave their all for this country and for their freedom,” stated Mark Williams, who served within the U.S. Marine Corps.
