HENDERSON, Nev. (KLAS) — A household is recognizing a Henderson trainer as a hero after her fast response saved a scholar’s life, Thursday.
“It was just like any normal day, and then all of a sudden, I heard commotion within my class,” Yvette Flowers, a trainer at Pinecrest Sloan Canyon Campus, stated.
Her fourth-grade class was transitioning from a math lesson to a studying lesson after they took a fast snack break.
“As I turned, considered one of my college students was spitting up right into a trash can, and the opposite college students that witnessed it have been like ‘Oh, I think he just choked on a little bit of water,’” Flowers said. “I walked over to the area that he was in, and immediately he looked up and his face was bright red. He had tears streaming down his eyes, and he was like ‘I can’t breathe. I can’t breathe.’”
Flowers immediately acknowledged that the coed was not simply choking from swallowing water the fallacious means. She rapidly carried out the Heimlich maneuver to assist the choking scholar.

Leonidus’ mom, Brianne Filimona, stated she is grateful for Mrs. Flowers’ fast response and experience that saved her son’s life.
“When I got him home, all I could do was hug him and cry,” Filimona stated. “I’m just thankful that she was there, and she was the right person because she knew what to do. She’s smaller than him, and for her to be able to do that. I cannot thank her enough.”
A medical group additionally responded to the classroom. Leonidus had some scratching and irritation in his throat. He returned to highschool the following day.
