LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — The Las Vegas Academy of the Arts (LVA) is getting a brand new look.
“The building we’re standing in right now is almost 100 years old,” LVA principal Lezlie Koepp stated.
That constructing is getting a facelift, and lots of different modifications are coming to campus as a part of a greater than $350 million renovation over 10 years.
A objective of the renovations is to combine the long run with the previous by creating fully new buildings and renovating the interiors of the historic ones. It’s a three-phase undertaking, and the primary part is already achieved with the varsity’s parking storage and health club.
“Each year the kids get something different, and I get to say, ‘well, you’re the only class that got to have the old field, or you’re the first class that got to have the parking garage,’” Koepp stated. “Like last year, when we opened the parking garage, that graduating class of seniors all put their handprints in the garage.”
Building crews are additionally having new experiences.
“As they’re renovating, things were discovering fun little mysteries that aren’t necessarily on the schematics,” Koepp stated. “I can’t speak for people who lived in the 40s, and how well they did their maps, but that’s kind of what we’re trying to clean up.”
