LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — UNLV introduced Josh Pastner as the brand new head coach for the Runnin’ Rebels males’s basketball crew on Tuesday.
“We are thrilled to welcome Coach Pastner to the UNLV Family as he takes the helm of the Runnin’ Rebel Basketball program,” Director of Athletics Erick Harper mentioned. “He’s a fearless and relentless recruiter with success as a head coach and can be an distinctive communicator, deeply dedicated to participating with the Las Vegas neighborhood.”
Pastner steps into the position beforehand held by Kevin Kruger, who was fired in early March. He joins UNLV after serving as head coach at Georgia Tech from 2016 to 2023 and at Memphis from 2009 to 2016.
With 14 seasons of head teaching expertise, the 47-year-old compiled a 276-187 file, main his groups to a number of postseason appearances. Pastner was additionally honored because the 2017 ACC Coach of the Yr and the 2013 C-USA Coach of the Yr.

The Rebels gained the nationwide championships in 1990. They have not reached the NCAA Event since 2013 and have not superior previous the Candy 16 since 2007.
“Josh is committed to connecting with Runnin’ Rebel alumni, ensuring that everyone feels involved in the program’s success. We are confident that he will lead us to win championships and return the Runnin’ Rebels to the NCAA Tournament,” Harper mentioned.
