LAS VEGAS (KLAS)-The long-shuttered Eastside Cannery on line casino on the Boulder Strip, which closed throughout the COVID-19 pandemic and by no means reopened, can be demolished, in line with Boyd Gaming.

“It has been more than five years since we closed Eastside Cannery, and there is not sufficient market demand to reopen the facility,” vice chairman David Strow with Boyd Gaming Company, advised 8 Information Now.

Fencing goes up across the property to organize it for demolition.

Strow added that the corporate is in discussions to promote the location for residential use.

8 Information Now spoke with UNLV Gaming Historian David Schwartz, who stated he wasn’t shocked to listen to the on line casino was closing.

“It’s not surprising because it’s been several years since it’s been opened, but it does indicate that maybe the demand for gaming is a little bit softer than it has been in the past,” Schwartz stated.

Boyd Gaming additionally owns Sam’s City, which is positioned close to the Eastside Cannery.
