LAS VEGAS (KLAS) – A flight crew reported a “potential mechanical issue” aboard its aircraft because it departed from Las Vegas’ Harry Reid Worldwide Airport on Friday, in line with an airport spokesman.

American Airways Flight 2981 departed from Reid Worldwide Airport at 12:54 p.m. for Charlotte, North Carolina. After its departure, the flight reported the potential subject, and emergency responders had been placed on standby.

In response to Reid Worldwide, the plane didn’t return to the LAS airport and was as an alternative diverted to the Dallas-Fort Value Worldwide Airport.

An announcement was launched by American Airways on Friday night:

American Airways flight 2981, with service from Las Vegas (LAS) to Charlotte (CLT) diverted to Dallas Fort Value (DFW) earlier as we speak resulting from a attainable mechanical subject. The plane was taken out of service in DFW for inspection by our upkeep group, and clients will proceed their journey to CLT on a alternative plane. We by no means need to disrupt our clients’ journey plans and we apologize for any inconvenience this will likely have prompted. – American Airways spokesperson

The incident comes days after an American Airways flight made an emergency touchdown at Reid Worldwide Airport Wednesday morning after fireplace and smoke had been seen coming from one of many aircraft’s engines.
