Czech Philharmonic says Jakub Hrůša will change into chief conductor in 2028

PRAGUE, Czech Republic (AP) — The Czech Philharmonic introduced Monday that Jakub Hrůša has been chosen to change into its new chief conductor and music director and can assume full duties in 2028 for an preliminary 5 year-term.

He’ll substitute Semyon Bychkov, who took over at the beginning of the 2018-19 season. He stated in a press release he was “overjoyed and deeply honored.”

The 43-year-old Hrůša is at the moment chief conductor of the Bamberg Symphony in Germany and is ready to change into the music director of the Royal Opera Home in London in September this 12 months.

Hrůša has been a daily visitor conductor with the Vienna Philharmonic, Berlin Philharmonic, New York Philharmonic and others.

He has been a principal visitor conductor of the Czech Philharmonic since 2018.

Hrůša was named Opus Klassik’s conductor of the 12 months in 2023.
