CCSD trustees choose new president; vows to deal with group constructing

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) – The Clark County College District’s Board of Trustees has chosen a brand new faculty board president.

Irene Bustamente Adams of District F was elected to the highest function, receiving 4 votes. In addition to voting for herself, Lorena Biassotti, Tameka Henry, and Emily Stevens additionally voted for Bustamente Adams.

Linda Cavazos obtained three votes.  

Bustamente Adams stated she plans to convey professionalism to the board. 

“I think I am the leader who can build collective impact and develop the succession planning, we have some critical decisions to make in these next 90 days and I believe that I am the person to do that,” Bustamente Adams stated. 

CCSD’s trustees have to pick a superintendent to run the nation’s fifth-largest faculty district. 

Bustamante Adams beforehand spent eight years serving as a legislator. She was elected to the varsity board in 2022. 

Trustees additionally elected Brenda Zamora of District D to function vice chairman on the varsity board.
