Break dancing surges in recognition after Paris Olympics, eyes 2032 video games

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) – Break dancing is rising in recognition with increasingly dancers and hip-hop artists getting concerned within the sport.

The current Summer season Olympic Video games in Paris boosted its recognition. 

“Yeah, thanks to the Olympics, we got a lot of sponsorship,” Japan’s Ono Hiroto who competed within the 2024 video games stated. “So many breakers could live just because by breaking.” 

That recognition did not proceed as soon as the video games concluded.

“After the Olympics, the sponsors left,” Hiroto stated.

A handful of Olympians have been in Las Vegas to showcase their expertise and mentor younger Breakers, who got here from everywhere in the west to compete within the ‘Skillz Discuss’ occasion on the Virgin resort. 

About 200 ‘b-boys and b-girls’ confirmed up. Las Vegas is likely one of the scorching spots for breakers.

“We just have a real welcoming community, our hip-hop community is so loved,” Denvir Macaraeg Skillz Discuss occasion organizer stated.

Breaking was born in america and made its debut on the Olympic Video games in Paris however will not be a part of the lineup within the 2028 Summer season Video games in Los Angeles. 

Nonetheless, the World DanceSport Federation is working to incorporate breaking within the 2032 Summer season Olympics in Brisbane, Australia.
