North Las Vegas motorcyclist killed in crash close to Lake Mead

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A motorcyclist from North Las Vegas was killed in a single-vehicle crash over the weekend, Nevada State Police stated.

On Sunday, March 9, at round 12:45 p.m., officers with the Nevada State Police Freeway Patrol responded to a crash on Northshore Highway close to mile marker 31 within the Lake Mead Nationwide Recreation Space.

Police stated investigation exhibits a motorcyclist, later recognized as Sutton Leebron Sterling, 26 of North Las Vegas, was driving north on Northshore Highway at a “speed too fast for conditions” whereas negotiating a curve.

Sterling traveled off the highway, hitting a freeway signal, and continued into the desert space down an embankment. Sterling was ejected off the bike, police stated.

Medical personnel pronounced Sterling lifeless on the scene.

The Nevada State Police Freeway Patrol Southern Command has investigated 12 deadly crashes leading to 12 fatalities in 2024.
