Henderson police unions pull assist from councilwoman following remarks

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Henderson’s police unions are pulling their endorsement from Councilwoman Carrie Cox following remarks she made in regards to the police chief’s removing, in accordance with a press launch.

The joint assertion from the Henderson Police Officer’s Affiliation, Henderson Police Supervisors Affiliation, and the Nevada Affiliation of Public Security Officers famous disappointment in feedback Cox made associated to Chief Hollie Chadwick, although no direct remark was cited.

The unions alleged Cox had prior information about points associated to the chief and wrote Cox’s statements have been divisive in nature. Cox and different councilmembers had mentioned Chadwick’s removing at a Tuesday metropolis council assembly. Cox answered questions from residents on Wednesday at Whitney Ranch Recreation Heart, some having to do with Chadwick.

“The Associations believe that the Councilperson has not accurately represented to the media or public her prior knowledge about the issues related to the chief,” the union management wrote. “Worse, the Associations cannot tolerate statements that have been made by the Councilperson which are intended to divide not just our memberships, but the unions themselves.”

Union management reiterated their message they have been in full assist of town’s determination which was made on Thursday by Henderson Metropolis Supervisor Stephanie Garcia-Vause.

“The Associations stand with the City of Henderson’s right to make managerial decisions of at-will employees regarding personnel issues.” The union management wrote.

The discharge ended with the rescinding of the unions’ endorsement of Cox, citing an absence of shared opinion on Chadwick.

“However, moving forward, we wish for it be clear that the Associations’ prior endorsement for Councilperson Cox has been rescinded as we do not believe that she represents the best interest of the law enforcement community,” the union management wrote. “And she does not speak for our collective opinions about the city’s decision related to Chief Chadwick.”
