LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Employees on the Rio Resort and On line casino have voted to authorize a strike, citing what they name unfair labor practices by property proprietor Dreamscape, an affiliate of Hyatt Resorts.
In a Monday information launch, members of Teamsters Native 986 mentioned the choice follows practically two years of stalled negotiations. The union represents near 100 workers on the Rio, whose contract expired in April 2024.
“The Rio can afford to meet the demands of our members, but management is refusing so they can put more money in their own pockets. It’s wrong, and the Teamsters are not going to let them get away with it,” Tim Vera, President of Native 986, mentioned.
Employees have filed a number of unfair labor follow complaints towards the corporate, accusing administration of refusing to cut price in good religion, in accordance with the discharge.
On Tuesday morning, the Rio Las Vegas launched the next assertion:
“Rio Las Vegas remains actively engaged in negotiations with Teamsters Local 986 and continues to bargain in good faith. We deeply value the contributions of our team members. We are committed to resolving outstanding issues in a way that supports both our team members and the long-term success of our property. We are optimistic that ongoing, constructive dialogue will lead to a fair and positive resolution for all parties involved.”
“It’s time for the Rio to quit playing games and get serious at the bargaining table,” entrance desk employee Jose Culin mentioned. “We are proud of the work we do, but the way this company is treating us is unacceptable.”
Teamsters Native 986 represents practically 30,000 members throughout the western United States, Hawaii, and Guam.
