LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Debbie Burgos is the co-founder of Race to Erase 22, a neighborhood nonprofit in Las Vegas elevating consciousness about veteran and first responder suicide by combining the love for desert racing and being outdoor.
The race is on to combat suicide, and Burgos mentioned leisure alternatives give our army group a way of belonging. It is a great way to fight loneliness and make pals.
“I think the way we’re going to be able to solve or reduce suicide is connections. It’s important, not just for our military or warrior community, but for humans,” Burgos mentioned.

“As their trust grows and they find confidence and feel safe in the environment, organically a conversation will happen,” Burgos added. “They’ll start talking freely, and that’s what we want. We want a safe space so anybody can share what they want to share without feeling forced or stigma.”
