Columbus State College neighborhood mourns professor by accident killed inside her dwelling

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WRBL) — The Columbus State College neighborhood is mourning the lack of Professor Erica Anderson, who was by accident shot and killed inside her dwelling earlier this week.

In line with Columbus police, Anderson died after being shot by a girl at her dwelling within the 1600 block of seventeenth Avenue.

The decision got here to the police simply after midnight Monday morning.

Anderson was in her first semester instructing at CSU, the place she had already made an enduring influence on college students and colleagues.

She was listed as a lecturer within the School of the Arts and supervised the costume store for the Division of Theatre and Dance.

Steven Graver, a professor in CSU’s Division of Theatre and Dance, mentioned Anderson shortly turned an integral a part of this system, instructing round 100 college students by her varied programs.

“Students took to her like a duck to water,” Graver mentioned. “They really enjoyed her style and the way she ran the shop — always looking for ways to improve things, which she did very quickly and for the better. We were just really lucky to have her. It was just a surprise hire that we got somebody so perfect for the job.”

Anderson is survived by her husband and three youngsters, who at the moment dwell in Indiana.
