Lenny Kravitz to star in NBC's 'Sunday Evening Basketball' opening

STAMFORD, Conn. (AP) — Lenny Kravitz will give “Sunday Night Basketball” the type of opening that Carrie Underwood delivers to “Sunday Night Football.”

The four-time Grammy Award winner will star within the opening phase for NBC’s Sunday evening protection of the NBA, the community introduced Monday.

The present opening will debut on Feb. 1 earlier than a doubleheader that begins with the Lakers visiting the New York Knicks. Defending champion Oklahoma Metropolis visits Denver within the late recreation.

Kravitz shot his opening in Philadelphia with Tripp Dixon, the NBC sports activities inventive director who has labored with Underwood on the NFL opening that is been used for the final 13 seasons.

“The song is cool, the sound is great and the whole plan is going to come together brilliantly thanks to Tripp and his team and Lenny for coming on board and really leaning into the concept and what we want to accomplish here,” stated Sam Flood, NBC Sports activities’ govt producer and president of manufacturing.

NBC will start televising NBA video games once more this season for the primary time because the finish of the 2001-02 season. Its protection begins with the season-opening doubleheader on Oct. 21.

There shall be 11 “Sunday Night Basketball” video games. They are going to be preceded by an hourlong, on-site studio program.
