“Without them, I would not be here sitting in front of you today sharing my story about why I created this program,” Corniel mentioned.

Actual Speak brings youth collectively to empower them. Some are required to attend as a part of their probation. Others come as a result of their dad and mom need them to alter.

“What we’re doing here is giving these kids an opportunity for change. Getting them involved in something positive. Listening to the stories of our speakers, so they won’t go down that same path,” Corniel mentioned. 

The audio system are largely ex-felons — individuals who did their time behind bars for crimes they remorse.

Gordon Wat served 12 years in federal jail and turned his life round.

“Josh, if you were to look up at the wall up there, at the ceiling. Start counting the dots because that’s how bored you’re going to be if you don’t change,” Wat mentioned. 

“Give them the time that they’re looking for. It only takes what I’ve given – the most expensive thing that you cannot give. Your attention, give it to them,” Wat mentioned to oldsters.

Alex Skaggs, 16, is part of Actual Speak and loves baseball.

“I got a couple of cousins that love baseball. Went to go watch them a couple of times, and I knew that the sport was for me,” Skaggs mentioned.

Skaggs hasn’t been within the juvenile justice system, however he involves take heed to the tales of those that selected the unsuitable path and paid the worth. Those that finally modified, however at a price.

“They should really come to this program, so they could at least experience what these speakers are saying in their testimonies and what their life choices and situations have been, so they don’t have to end up in those situations,” Skaggs mentioned.
