Trump ‘not thrilled’ with Israel’s assault in Doha

President Trump on Tuesday stated he wasn’t “thrilled” by Israel’s assault on Hamas leaders in Doha, Qatar, however he informed reporters he wasn’t caught off guard when it occurred.

“I’m not thrilled, I’m not thrilled about it,” he stated. “I’m not thrilled about the entire scenario, it’s not scenario.

“But, I will say this, we want the hostages back, but we are not thrilled about the way that went down,” he added.

When requested if he was stunned by the assault, Trump stated: “I’m never surprised by anything, especially when it comes to the Middle East.”

The president stated he’ll give a full assertion on the scenario on Wednesday, including that he was “very unhappy about every aspect.”

Earlier on Tuesday, White Home press secretary Karoline Leavitt learn an announcement from Trump within the press briefing, saying Israel’s strike in Qatar was not within the U.S.’s pursuits and that he “feels very bad” in regards to the location of the assault.

The administration was notified of the strike by the U.S. army, Leavitt stated, and the president directed particular envoy Steve Witkoff to tell Qatari officers of the assault. Qatar has dismissed the feedback, saying officers had been knowledgeable as soon as missiles hit the constructing. 

Hostage talks stalled after Witkoff walked away from negotiations in July, with Hamas and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu blaming one another for stalling negotiations.

The president spoke with Netanyahu after the assault and reiterated he needs “peace,” Leavitt stated Tuesday.
