Las Vegas man dies in multi-vehicle crash in northern Nevada

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A Las Vegas man has died following a crash close to mile marker 50, positioned between Austin and Battle Mountain.

On July 20, round 4:30 p.m., Nevada Freeway Patrol troopers responded to a critical crash close to mile marker 50 involving a Jeep Cherokee, a Ford F-150, and a Freightliner business truck.

Preliminary studies present the Jeep crossed the middle line, sideswiping the northbound Ford F-150. The influence compelled the truck into the trail of the Freightliner, inflicting a crash that left the Freightliner jackknifed, blocking each lanes.

The Jeep overturned, and all three autos left the roadway.

The Ford’s driver, 55-year-old William Benes of Las Vegas, died on the scene. The drivers of the Jeep and Freightliner suffered non-life-threatening accidents and have been taken to the hospital.

Nevada Freeway Patrol, Area Three, has investigated 13 deadly crashes leading to 15 fatalities for the yr 2025.
