The Barron Hearth was found Tuesday afternoon, and is burning on non-public land. The reason for the fireplace is unknown. Personnel from the Truckee Meadows Hearth Safety District are on the scene.

“The fire displayed extreme behavior throughout the day, driven by strong, gusty winds. Rapid, wind-driven runs pushed the flames across the landscape, with fire actively running through vegetation and transitioning into the tree canopy,” the incident report mentioned Wednesday.
“In some areas, intense heat and dry fuels led to crown fire behavior, where flames leapt from treetop to treetop, making direct suppression efforts difficult and hazardous,” the report mentioned.
