LAS VEGAS ( KLAS ) – Ace could also be exaggerating just a little when he writes:
“Many lane lines are thin and dim. They’re harder to see than on any other road in the nation.”
Effectively, Ace, the Nevada Dept of Transportation says their lane striping crews strive do their job by the guide.
In a web-based video, an NDOT employee says:
“We’re responsible for keeping traffic flowing safely and efficiently. We do our best to put the lines down and make sure that they look good.”
So what do you have to do if you end up driving behind a striping crew?
That very same employee says:
“The paint is usally wet for a couple minutes at a time behind us. Be patient and be careful not to drive on wet paint.”
He was joined by his fellow crew members who chimed in collectively:
“We are NDOT. We keep Nevada safe and connected.”
Lane traces typically have a shelf lifetime of 4 to five years, and never all are repainted as quickly as we would like.
Some roads in Las Vegas use raised dots to separate lanes. They often final just a little longer.
Ace, thanks for writing.
Buckle up, drive rigorously – and, please put down that cellphone!
