LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — The year-long Peace Method bridge mission within the southwest Las Vegas valley is now nearing its last phases.
The continuing building runs alongside Peace Method from Cimarron Street to Fort Apache Street, with lane restrictions at present in place. This work is an element of a bigger Clark County mission geared toward easing visitors with new alerts, upgraded sidewalks, and a bridge that may immediately join Peace Technique to Fort Apache.
Resident Kenneth Humphrey, who works close to Flamingo and Fort Apache, mentioned he has handled visitors congestion within the space greater than as soon as.
“I think it’s something to add to the community,” Humphrey mentioned. “It’s just normal to me because Vegas is always constantly building something, it’s a cone parade and things like that.”
Humphrey mentioned this will likely be a pleasant change regardless of, extra visitors to the realm.
Whereas many neighbors agree this may shorten the commute, some are apprehensive drivers will pace over the bridge like Joe Santos, who has lived in a neighborhood on Peace Method since 2018.
“I’m definitely against the bridge just bringing all the traffic through the backyard,” Santos mentioned. “There’s the concern for children, you know, that are all walking from the schools right down the street, like 200 yards past El Capitan there, so they’re all walking this whole area.”
A wall separates Santos’ yard from the street, the place he can see and listen to all of the pavement work and restriping.
“There’s always been one lane on each side, and now they’re cramming 4 lanes onto a smaller area, so we’ll see what happens with it,” Santos mentioned.
Santos hopes the present pace restrict will not be impacted both. A reminder from neighbors to additionally decelerate as this avenue opens up.
“I believe it’s 25 mph, so let’s hope they maintain that as well, so we’ll see,” Santos mentioned.
Clark County officers say the Peace Method bridge is predicted to open quickly, by the tip of June 2025, or on the newest, in early July.
