Las Vegas police challenge dispersal order for protestors in downtown space

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) – A whole bunch of individuals gathered outdoors the Las Vegas Federal Courthouse within the downtown space in protest towards federal immigration enforcement happening nationwide.

The protest remained peaceable alongside Las Vegas Boulevard close to Clark Avenue on Wednesday night time round 7 p.m. Flags and indicators have been carried by many who gathered as police monitored the realm carefully.

By 8:30 p.m., a number of extra folks had gathered close to the courthouse, bringing with them U.S. and Mexico flags.

Round 9 p.m. Las Vegas Metro police issued a dispersal order and declared an illegal meeting at Las Vegas Boulevard and Clark Avenue “due to protestors engaging in illegal activity.”

Failure to go away the realm may end up in arrest or quotation, in line with police.

ACLU of Nevada Government Director Athar Haseebullah posted to social media Wednesday night time saying:

“We have legal observers on the ground who have just advised officers using pepperballs on protestors. Dispersal order from LVMPD, not audible to all, declared unlawful assembly without clarity on what unlawful activity existed during peaceful protest with large crowd size.”
